INNOVATING IS A STATE OF MIND

On Wednesday, September 19, 2018, Les Affaires once again inspired a vibrant network of organizations and entrepreneurs with a rich array of conferences on the exciting subject of Innovation Management. Innodirect was pleased to participate as an exclusive exhibitor.

A SLOGAN THAT HAS FULFILLED ITS PROMISE TO “FILL UP WITH INSPIRING SOLUTIONS AND INNOVATIVE IDEAS”

21 speakers shared their experience and expertise in innovation with a diverse audience of more than 100 people. The common thread: innovation is neither the light bulb nor the switch . The following is a summary of the main points of the day.

INNOVATION: A STATE OF MIND TO BE CULTIVATED

Innovation is not a result, or a simple “light bulb moment”. Innovation is a state of mind, and this state of mind needs to be cultivated. It is cultivated through a culture of inclusion, expression and fair listening to different points of view, exchanges leading to co-creation, a collective outcome that dissipates the very notion of individual failure and solidifies collaborative engagement.

INNOVATION: A PATH TO FOLLOW

Nor is innovation a result that can be obtained on demand, a light that can be switched on at will. Like any creative act, innovation requires time, processes and tools that make it possible to “transform a stone into a diamond”, to use the beautiful metaphor of Laurent Simon, Professor in the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at HEC Montréal and co-director of MOSAIC, a centre of creativity and innovation. It is a question of equipping these states of mind with the means to be exposed to new impulses, to store them and to work on them in an objective way.

INNODIRECT : THE WAY TO CULTIVATE THE INNOVATIVE STATE OF MIND

As an exclusive exhibitor, Innodirect felt its sense of relevance reinforced. Indeed, Innodirect perfectly matches the words used throughout the day by this dynamic community. Our value proposal? Eliminate the “cognitive barriers” to innovation, that is, to overcome all the prejudices that limit a culture of creative collaboration. Innodirect is a bias-free collaboration platform that enables objective brainstorming sessions and unexpected business-matching across identity, hierarchy, sector and habit barriers. It makes room for collective debate (versus individual surveys) that is objective and constructive (thanks to our validators) and leads to concrete commitments (thanks to our facilitators, versus inconclusive discussions). This is all set up in a very simple way, avoiding the costs generated by meetings that rarely bring together everyone we want. Innodirect thus makes it possible to unite groups, express and evaluate opinions openly and equally, identify synergies, promote disruptive thinking, and build teams based on real skills and motivations.

Here are the words that Philippe Meloni, Co-founder and President and CEO of Innodirect, used on stage in this regard:

“We’re here to talk about innovation. What is innovation really about? It means doing things differently and, ideally, better. But what is stopping us from thinking “outside the box”? Power games: sometimes, habits: often, cognitive biases: always! We have found a solution to avoid all these barriers to innovation; we call it Innodirect. »

A SURE ACHIEVEMENT: THE BIG SMILE OF A GLORIOUS WINNER

Cheers to Sylvie Thomas, Director at Revenue Québec, who won our lucky draw at the event and took home a bottle of Brunello Di Montalcino 2012.
